To set up an above ground pool kit you'll need an extra pair of hands for example to hold the pool walls while you adjust the lining, but this project is easily doable for a do it yourself enthusiast. Two types
Besides being easy to build and set up, above ground pool kits can be placed anywhere in your backyard. You just have to make sure the ground you put it on is fairly level. There are two basic types of above ground pool kits available, hard sided pool kits and inflatable pool kits.
- Hard sided pool kits. Hard sided above ground pool kits are available in a variety of depths and sizes. They are generally oval or round with a sheet metal frame. These kits use a flexible metal wall with a metal rail for stabilization. A hard sided pool kit requires more ground preparation than a soft sided pool kit, because it requires a leveled dirt surface. Because of this, the location you pick will be relatively permanent.
- Soft sided pool kits. The soft sided above ground pool kits are gaining in popularity because they are super easy to set up and can be placed on almost any surface. The walls of above ground pool kits simply inflate to set up so the pool can be assembled in a few hours. The liner material used is similar to that used in bullet proof vests, so these pools are really tough. Soft sided above ground pool kits can be set up on dirt, grass, sand, concrete or even gravel and they also come in a variety of sizes.
Add water and enjoy
Both hard sided and soft sided pools will require an electric pump and a filter. The pump will circulate the water and the filter will ensure the water stays clean. Depending on the size of above ground pool kit you buy, you may also need an automatic chlorinator and pool heater. Other than that, additional accessories like decking and lights are up to you. Simply assemble the pool kit, add water and enjoy!
