Above Ground Pool Installation

Preparation is the key

Installing an above ground swimming pool isn't that difficult, but doing some preliminary planning and surveying will make the process go smoothly. Read over the instructions that come with the above ground pool's user guide or check out Internet sites before you start.

Do it yourself and save money

You can install an Atlantic above ground swimming pool; just keep in mind that it's a labor-intensive task. You'll be doing something you've never done before, but it's certainly doable.

Almost any yard can accommodate an oval above ground pool, but you'll want to make sure there is enough space for the size of the above ground pool plus 6 inches surrounding the pool. If you purchase a round above ground pool, simply drive a stake at the center of where the round above ground pool will be located and use a string that measures half the radius, plus 6 more inches.

Next comes clearing the area for the pool. It's imperative that the ground be completely level. Once that is done, the bottom ring of the above ground pool can be laid out. A bottom plate joins the pieces of the bottom track together.

Patio blocks measuring 12 x 12 x 1 inches are buried underneath the top plates. Again, the patio blocks must be level. The bottom ring should be centered on the patio blocks. Next comes the building of the wall.

Installing the above ground pool walls

Unroll the wall and drop it into the channels. Next comes placing of smooth, debris-free masonry sand that will act as the support base material for the above ground pool liner. A two-inch layer of sand is recommended.

When unpacking the above ground pool liner, make sure it is as wrinkle-free as possible. To avoid wrinkles with overlap above ground pool liners, take out excess material as water is added. For beaded above ground pool liners, smooth the material out to the sides.

The above ground pool liner is affixed by overlapping it over the outside of the pool wall. Plastic clips hold the liner into place. Some Sharkline above ground pools have a J beak liner that has a little hook on the top edge of the liner that attaches to the top of the pool wall.

Assemble all remaining pool framework, posts, rails, and other swimming pool supplies, and you're ready to fill the above ground pool. You may want to complement the pool with landscaping and a surrounding deck to add to the enjoyment of your aluminum above ground swimming pool.
